A poem inspired by Richard Siken's poetry in "Crush" + drunkenness masking as a path to control and confidence and intimacy (it is nothing of the sort)
A man walks into a bar Poetry on napkin Asks For an ear And if not an ear A hand And if not a hand A drink will swallow itself A point will be made A tear will shed like blood into empty glasses You sit next to the man And show him tits And order the third Long island of the night The man will know your home like he’s known all the others Recognizes All the broken hands lining the walls Touched you Touching An ear can be a throat Or a tit So you’ll give whatever in the name of charity You are so thoughtful
